On 4 March, at 16:00, the Belarusian vocal ensemble Žuravinka will be celebrating its 20th anniversary by giving a concert entitled Seasons in Ventspils Cultural Centre. The guests will also include the choreography ensemble Konfetti of Ventspils Centre for Creative Learning and the Belarusian ensemble Mara from Liepāja.
Belarusian vocal ensemble Žuravinka was established in late autumn of 2002 and it was operated by Ventspils Belarusian Association Spadčina with Nikolajs Žavrids in the lead. . The establishment of the ensemble was a challenging process set by the association as its first task after it had been established in 1999. Initially it was difficult to find the artistic director of the ensemble. The representatives of the association literally tried for several years to persuade the teacher and vocal coach Anžela Zraičenko to take on this important responsibility. Back then no one believed that this ensemble would last this long. However, the ensemble proved everyone wrong and it is successful to this day. From the initial composition, five members, including the artistic director, are still active in the ensemble. Since 2004, the ensemble has been operating under the auspices of Ventspils Cultural Centre. The ensemble has released four albums recorded in 2006, 2008, 2012, and 2017. Each year, Žuravinka participates in various celebrations organised by Ventspils and other cities, as well as contests and festivals. The ensemble has represented its hometown at national level, participated in the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in 2013 and 2018 and is determined to do so also this year.
We wish the ensemble to fly on the wings of creativity and good luck!
Admission is free of charge.
The event is financially supported by Ventspils State City Municipality.
