The garden got its name thanks to one of the wealthiest families in Ventspils in the late 19th century – family Reinke.

Renķas garden is the central venue for cultural events in Ventspils during the summer season, where summer balls, summer concerts and festivals are regularly held. Even foreign popular music stars such as F. R. David, Saragossa Band and “Ottawan” band have performed here.

Several unique environmental objects are also located in the Reņķa garden –

Cloud lambs – 10 rams and lambs (author G. Burvis). Cows, a cat and a grasshopper are walking in the group of wooden sculptures called Garden beasts (author A. Dzērve). But the big, 4 m high Fly (by U. Kurzemnieks) does not fly away and allows children to climb on its many legs.

In the Renkai garden, the giant Lutausis (author I. Berga) lost a giant boot, a hat, a bunch of keys, and buttons, and a large Tortoise (author V. Suškēvičs) has also taken up residence. Sea Cows graze nearby, which get along well with Crab Crabs

The pond in the Reņķa garden with its floating fountain and rest benches has become a pleasant place to catch your breath and rest your feet. Fitness equipment for exercising in the open air has been installed in the Reņķa garden.
