From 25 May, exhibition “What’s in my Dowry…” at the Ventspils Museum in the Livonian Order Castle has been established as part of the cooperation project “Created in the Museum”.
This year, the cooperation project between Ventspils Museum and Ventspils schools “Created in the Museum” included the museum educational programme “The Best Gift for a Bride!”, where schoolchildren got acquainted with a peculiar ethnographic heritage – the distaff, which was decorated and presented by Latvian young men to their chosen ladies.
Inspired by this programme, which introduced the symbolism of the sun and the Museum’s collection, the technology lessons led to the creation of works that will be on display from 25 May in a single exhibition at the Education Centre of the Livonian Order Castle.
All Ventspils comprehensive schools are participating in the exhibition, with a special thanks to the schools’ design and technology teachers – Jonika Tērvide (Ventspils State Gymnasium No.1 and Centre Primary School), Anita Ozoliņa (Primary School No.1), Olga Jakubčonoka (Secondary School No.2), Olga Maranika (Primary School No.2), Viktorija Kurdjukova (Primary School No.3), Zane Piuss (Pārventa Primary School), Antra Bakanauska (Secondary School No.4) and Inita Kačevska (Secondary School No.6).
The project “Created in the Museum”, implemented by Ventspils Museum educator Ilva Buntika in collaboration with museum colleagues, is taking place for the 12th time.
