The four-year anniversary concert of the Concert Hall “Latvija” will feature accordionist Ksenija Sidorova, pianist Reinis Zariņš and organist Aigars Reinis. Musicians with international musical experience and renown, multiple winners of the Great Music Award will form an unprecedented keyboard trio, in which you will hear not only the sound of accordion and concert piano, but also acoustic organ and 470i upright piano.
World-renowned Latvian artists will perform a newly created concert programme featuring major classical gems from around the world, as well as several striking new pieces and arrangements by contemporary Latvian composers. New compositions for the concert programme are being written by composer Rihards Dubra, a lecturer at Ventspils Music High School, saxophonist and composer Aigars Raumanis, and the concert will conclude with a new version of the piece “Dod, Dieviņi” by composer Raimonds Tiguls, created especially for this event.
Ksenija Sidorova is one of the best-known Latvian artists in the world and is known as the “Princess of the Accordion”. Her repertoire ranges from new works in collaboration with composers such as Carl Jenkins, Hans Abrahamsen, Stefano Gervasoni and others, to jazz and folk-inspired pieces, offering listeners a wide range of musical styles. Ksenija Sidorova has performed with the finest Latvian and European orchestras, participated in festivals in France, Switzerland, Italy, the UK and elsewhere, continuing to conquer new stages and hearts of audiences around the world.
Pianist Reinis Zariņš is a brilliant soloist, a skilled chamber musician and a master of deeply considered interpretations. Reinis Zariņš has performed in the world’s finest concert halls – New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and has also performed extensively in Latvia, and not only in the big cities. Laureate of eleven international competitions. He has recorded several critically acclaimed discs.
Aigars Reinis is one of the best Latvian organists and a participant of many international and Latvian music projects. His musical collaborators include the State Academic Choir “Latvija”, the Latvian Radio Choir, and the Ave Sol Chamber Choir. Aigars Reinis has created joint programmes with conductors Māris Sirmais, Sigvards Kļava, Guntis Kuzma, soloists Ēriks Kiršfelds, Marta Spārniņa, Elīna Endzele, Aigars Raumanis, Rogerio Gonsalves and many others.
The creative work of Rihards Dubra, composer, Grand Music Award laureate and teacher at the Ventspils Music High School, is closely connected with sacred music. His compositional style has been shaped by minimalism, Gregorian and Renaissance music, and above all by its philosophical side.
At the four-year anniversary concert of the Concert Hall, saxophonist and winner of the Grand Music Award Aigars Raumanis will make his debut as a music author, who will also compose several arrangements for the concert programme. He has performed with leading Latvian orchestras and as a soloist with Sinfonietta Riga, Sinfonia Concertante, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Latvian Radio Choir and other collectives.
The well-known composer and record producer Raimonds Tiguls has received several Annual Latvian Music Recording Awards and has written music for theatre and cinema. His most famous choral songs “Dod, Dieviņi” and “Lec, Saulīte” have become stable values in the Latvian choral movement, while his composition for choir and heng “Monnlight Sound Design” was published in America and has gained popularity all over the world.
The concert is organised by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” and supported by the Ventspils State City Municipality. Tickets will be available from 6 June at 12.00 in the ticket sales network “Biļešu paradīze”, as well as at the box office of the Concert Hall “Latvija”.
