On 18 October at 19.00, the concert series “Atgriešanās Ventspilī” will take place at the Concert Hall “Latvija”, where three soloists – percussionist Reinis Tomiņš, cellist Maksims Beitāns and organist Aigars Reinis – will perform together with the Ventspils Chamber Orchestra and the Mixed Choir “Ventspils” under the direction of conductor Aigars Meri. The Concert will be hosted by musicologist and journalist Liene Jakovļeva of “Latvijas Radio 3 “Klasika””.
The concert programme includes “Mūžīgās ilgošanās gaisma” concerto for marimba and string orchestra by Rihards Dubra, “Psalmu burtnīca” by Valts Pūce, “Pasticcio à la Rossini” by Pēteris Plakidis and “Divertimento” for organ and timpani by Marģeris Zariņš.
In the concert series “Atgriešanās Ventspilī”, it is customary that the Ventspils Chamber Orchestra is accompanied by Ventspils residents or graduates of the Ventspils Music High School who are currently on their musical journey elsewhere – in other cities or countries. This Concert will be an opportunity to hear the talented Reinis Tomiņš, a graduate of Ventspils Music High School, who actively performs as a soloist and in various orchestras. He has participated in Inese Galante’s Summertime Festival concerts, performed with “Sinfonietta Rīga” at the Saeima’s centenary anniversary concert, as well as with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra on tour in France. He is a laureate of several Latvian and international competitions, as well as the 1st prize winner of the National Percussion Competition. This year he won an important victory in the Yamaha Percussion Competition.
The Concert will also feature one of the best Latvian organists, Aigars Reinis, whom the audience has already got to know in several concerts at the Concert Vall “Latvija”, including the concert “Pjacolla un Dienvidamerikas ritmi” in September in the “Organ Music on Sunday” series, where Reinis Tomiņš also performed. Aigars Reinis, winner of the Great Music Award, has participated in many international and Latvian music projects. His musical collaborators include the State Academic Choir “Latvija”, the Latvian Radio Choir, the Chamber Choir “Ave Sol”, including a successful and productive collaboration with conductor Aigars Meri, the Ventspils Chamber Orchestra and the Ventspils Mixed Choir.
Cellist Maksims Beitans began his musical studies in his native Latvia and later continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in the UK and the Swiss Conservatoire in Lugano. He has been performing since childhood and is a laureate of 18 international competitions, winning five Grand Prix. Maksims Beitans’ extensive concert schedule has previously been included in Ventspils and the Concert Hall “Latvija”, so this will indeed be a return for him.
The Concert is organised by SIA“Kurzemes filharmonija”, and funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Ventspils State City Municipality. Tickets are available at the ticket sales network “Biļešu paradīze”, as well as at the box offices of the Concert Hall “Latvija” and the Theatre House “Jūras vārti”.
