For the tenth year, the International Writers’ and Translators’ House in cooperation with the Ventspils Library will organise the regional competition “Kurzeme Prose Readings” as part of the Prose Readings Festival.
Kurzeme authors of all ages who write prose are invited to apply for Kurzeme Prose Readings 2023 by submitting a new, unpublished prose work. First round applications should be sent to the Ventspils Library, Akmeņu Street 2, Ventspils LV-3601, e-mail [email protected].
The jury will evaluate the submitted works and announce by 17 November which authors will be invited to participate in the second round of the competition, which will take place in person on 25 November at 12.00 at the International Writers’ and Translators’ House, Annas Street 13, Ventspils.
Invited authors will be informed personally and their names will be announced on the Ventspils Library website www.biblioteka.ventspils.lv and on the website of the International Writers’ and Translators’ House www.ventspilshouse.lv.
After the second round of the competition, the jury will select the best – previously unpublished – work(s), with which the authors will be invited to participate in person at the Prose Readings 2023 festival to be held in Riga in early December.
The jury consists of writers Jānis Vādons, Ieva Rupenheite and Dace Meiere, as well as the director of the Ventspils Library Astra Pumpura and the long-time manager of the Writer’s House Andra Konste.
