This program, crafted by renowned Latvian pianist Andrejs Osokins, serves as a tribute to the monumental figures in Latvian piano music. Featuring works by celebrated composers such as Pēteris Vasks, Emīls and Volfgangs Dārziņš, Lūcija Garūta, Jānis Ivanovs, Emīlis Melngailis, Valentīns Utkin, Imants Zemzars, and Jāzeps Vītols, the concert highlights Latvia’s rich musical legacy.
With a special focus on the spirituality and personal essence embedded in these compositions, Osokins offers a unique interpretative perspective, emphasizing the individuality and profound inner world of each composer. In addition, the concert will feature the world premiere of a piece written for Osokins by Raimonds Tiguls.
The concert will be performed on both a traditional concert grand piano and the exceptional vertical piano by Dāvids Kļaviņš, adding a unique sonic dimension to the experience. This program promises to be a deep exploration of Latvia’s classical music heritage, from Vasks to Vītols, through the hands of one of the country’s most prominent pianists.
