The Latvian Radio Choir, conductor Sigvards Kļava, and dancer-choreographer Lilija Lipora invite you on a journey into a picturesque world of sound and movement, created by the most unique and perfect instruments — the human voice and body. Much like in painting, where you see brushstrokes and color textures of varying intensities, this program’s music offers a wide range of expressive forms. The voices of the Latvian Radio Choir and the movement and gong-playing of Lilija Lipora bring these works to life as living artworks.

Dense layers alternate with transparent sound-color textures, resulting in transcendent musical scores. The music moves fluidly, from delicate minimalism to tense, thick textures, without strict form or timeline, allowing the audience to freely experience the artistic journey.

Equally fluid are the texts created and shaped by the composers, forming strings of abstract vowel and syllable “beads” with bright overtone flashes. The composers craft their scores as illusionists and masters of texture, inviting everyone to listen and explore spaces and times beyond reality, surrendering to dreams and flights of existence.

The Latvian Radio Choir is a world-renowned choral ensemble, whose performances have earned prestigious awards such as the Grammy and Gramophone.

Lilija Lipora is an outstanding Latvian choreographer and movement director, known for her work in Latvian theatre and dance. She has also actively participated in various contemporary dance projects and festivals, with her works standing out for their innovative approach and ability to combine different art genres.

The creation of the concert program is supported by the Copyright and Communication Consulting Agency / Latvian Authors’ Association (AKKA/LAA).
