In October, the Ventspils Science Center VIZIUM invites all interested parties, along with their families and friends, to participate in weekend creative workshops, where various STEM secrets will be revealed. Visitors will decode secret codes, discover the mysteries of sound and chemistry, and solve escape room challenges. Additionally, VIZIUM guests can look forward to a new science show and spooky Halloween activities!
In October VIZIUM workshops will take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 PM. New workshop content will be offered every weekend:
- October 5th and 6th: “Musical Secrets”
Participants will explore how sound is created and how music can be made from it. They will also create musical instruments from everyday objects.
- October 12th and 13th: “Secrets of Encryption”
Whether you’re an experienced detective or just interested in technology, this workshop will be intriguing for everyone. Participants will create and decode codes, as well as play brain-teasing games!
- October 19th and 20th: “Mysterious Chemistry”
Chemistry is all around us! In this workshop, everyone will have the opportunity to become a chemist and conduct experiments using everyday chemical elements and reactions.
October 26th and 27th: “Escape Room”
The escape room is a fun game where players must find hidden clues and solve puzzles before time runs out. Every detail can be crucial, and some clues may even be dangerous… Teams must work together and use their wits to solve the mystery!
Additionally, everyone is invited to attend science shows, held from Tuesday to Sunday at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM:

The Science Magic School is a mysterious and fascinating place where science meets the world of magic. Here, visitors will learn both practical spells and chemistry knowledge. The school promises surprising discoveries, demonstrations, and a magical educational experience.
- at 2:00 PM: “Mysterious Planet”
Let’s uncover what this planet is, who lives there, and what it looks like. The show combines scientific precision with imaginative creativity. Astonishing experiments will inspire and help rediscover the magical world around us!
The VIZIUM creative workshops and science shows can be attended separately from the exhibition hall.
On the eve of All Saints’ Day, also known as Halloween, the VIZIUM Science Center invites all little and big monsters to spend a spooky and creative day at the thematic event “HaloVIZIUM,” taking place on October 31st from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the 2nd floor of the science center. Meanwhile, young explorers are welcome to join the “Little Explorers’ Workshops” on weekends, where VIZIUM’s friendly instructors will guide them in playful activities at the Little Explorers’ Gallery.
