The world-famous English comedy master Ray Cooney’s play “Run for Your Wife” is coming to audiences! This masterpiece of farce has made millions of viewers around the world laugh to tears, and this play is no exception! “Run for Your Wife” is a work highly praised by critics and audiences alike, earning the author awards not only in Europe. Screenplays based on this comedy have inspired films shown in many countries around the globe. Moreover, this particular comedy is still regarded as the longest-running production in London’s legendary West End theatre.
The main character of the plot is a taxi driver, John Smith (played by Andris Daugaviņš). John drove passengers both during the day and, of course, at night, strictly following a carefully planned schedule. Nothing unusual, you might say? This is exactly where the main intrigue begins! Because John was not like his other colleagues—he was living two parallel lives simultaneously, residing in two different homes with two entirely different wives (played by Lelde Dreimane and Linda Kalniņa)! All of this was possible, of course, as long as he adhered to his meticulously planned schedule. This would have continued indefinitely, raising not the slightest suspicion, if only the cunning John Smith hadn’t gotten into a fight, severely injuring his head, and waking up in a hospital.
The meticulously planned world held together by John’s strict schedule began to fall apart at the seams! In an attempt to save his own skin, Smith found himself tangled in efforts to explain the situation to both of his wives. The avalanche of lies kept growing. To make matters worse, Smith’s friend and neighbor (played by Rihards Lepers) stepped in to help with his own mischief, only adding to the chaos. And as if that weren’t enough, the situation spiraled further out of control when police officers (played by Jānis Jarāns and Valdis Pavlovskis) became involved in the investigation. Now, all that’s left is to run for cover! Or perhaps, just perhaps, there’s still hope to find a way out?
