The activity of the Concert Hall “Latvija”, the North Kurzeme music, arts and cultural education centre, launched in July 2019. In respect of the local and national context, the repertoire of the new concert hall consist of performances of Latvia’s best musicians, as well as by exclusive concerts of foreign artists.
The use of two globally unique musical instruments make the repertoire special.
The concert hall “Latvija” feature an organ, made by the German organ construction company Johannes Klais Orgelbau, and a piano made by Davids Klavins, a Latvian-born piano maker.

Awards
- In the 2016 competition “The Most Sustainable Building and Project 2016”, the main prize in the nomination “The Most Sustainable Project 2016 in Latvia” was won by Ventspils Music High School with the function of a concert hall.
- In the 2017 competition “Technology and Design Innovation Award” in the nomination “Public Outdoor Space” Ventspils Great Square and the fountain “Frigate “Wallfisch (Whale)”” won the 1st place.
- In September 2019, the Concert Hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Music High School won the 1st place in the IFD AWARD 2019 nomination – facades (ventilated).
- On April 17, 2020, the Concert Hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Music High School (Transformation of the Great Square, Concert Hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Music School at the Great Square 1, Ventspils) won the 1st place in the nomination “Public New Building” in the show “The Best Building of the Year in Latvia 2019”.
- On August 26, 2020, the Concert Hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Music High School received honorary recognition in the International design competition “World Design Awards 2020”.
- On September 2, 2020, in the sustainable construction, architecture and design competition “Sustainability in Architecture, Construction, Design 2020”, the building of Concert Hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Music High School won the 1st place in the nomination “The Most Sustainable Building”.
- The first place in the nomination “The Most Energy-Efficient Public Building” of the contest “The Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia 2020” announced by the Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development and the magazine “Būvinženieris” take the concert hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Secondary School of Mu.
