On the 2nd floor of the concert hall “Latvija” there is a Music Library, which is the first public library of its kind in Latvia and offers a wide range of services for music professionals and lovers.
Visitors to the library will surely appreciate the room of silence and capsules for listening to music – egg-shaped chairs for a comfortable enjoyment of music, where the visitor can sit down and isolate himself from what is happening around them by listening to music in a very concentrated way. Here, in a perfectly equipped audiovisual reading room, music recordings are available in a wide variety of formats: CD, DVD, Blu-Rey, vinyl plates, and lectures on music are also held. Readers can also enjoy music on the subscribed digital platforms – the Digital Concert Hall of the medici.tv and the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra.
For practical music, musical instruments will be useful: accordion, kokle, guitar, flute, synthesizer or digital piano. A variety of free creative classes are offered to groups of pupils and young people, which will both entertain and help to acquire new knowledge and skills.
On the last Saturday of each month, at 10:30 a.m. At 13:00, the library hosts a creative educational lesson for preschoolers “Music lesson for the family”, but four times a year in the concert cycle “(non-)academically” creative ventspils residents perform. Admission to the events is free.
