The nature trail “Rīva loki” (meanders of Rīva) starts at the Ulmale-Labrags Lutheran Church and winds 3 kilometres up and down the picturesque valley of the lower River Rīva. The Rīva flows here in a canyon-like gorge, with a depth of 12 metres. The view is open to the river’s countless meanders and steep bank outcrops.
From the highway, the trail can be found by following the direction to the Ulmale-Labraga Lutheran Church, the beginning of the trail marked with a specially designed trail name sign. The route continues away from the sea and winds up and down the picturesque valley of the lower River Rīva. During the walk, you can observe magnificent natural sights and a variety of plants, and it is also possible to spot a kingfisher or a black stork.
The total length of the trail is 8 km (approx. 2.5 h one way):
- First section: 3 km (one way, marked with a green stripe)
- First section: 3 km (one way, marked with a green stripe) Second section: 3 km (one way, marked with a green dot)
- Third section: 2 km (one way, no marking – follow the river bank)
