2000. gadā šeit ierīkota strūklaka “Saules laiviņas” (tēlniece I. Berga, arh. M. Lejnieks), bet 2004. gadā figurālā puķu dobe “Bobsleja ekipāža”.
The name of the square was given in 1995 with the idea of emphasizing the historically forming new part of the city in the city structure. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the place was used as a traveling circus square, later known as J. Čakste (1930) and L. Paegles (1940) square.
