The little bears Briar and Bramble lose their mother at a very young age in mysterious circumstances. Many years later, a forest ranger, Vick, takes the bears to the Robot Research Institute and they discover a clue related to Briar and Bramble’s mother. Suddenly, all the answers to her disappearance are revealed.
Briar and Bramble are in for dizzying adventures and exciting battles with cunning enemies, but there is no doubt: the bears will win, as always!
The film is dubbed in Latvian and Russian (with subtitles in Latvian).

A poignant message about the gender divide, the struggle to get through the modern dating jungle and the dangerous qualities we tend to attribute to the people on the other side of our phones.
The action drama is directed by Susan Vogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me) and stars Emily Jones (Patrick, Ghostland, The Peak), Nicholas Brown (Succession) and Geraldine Visvanathan (Miracle Workers, Down with Sex).

When Angela and her friend Katherine disappear into the woods and return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront evil head-on.

“MANHATTAN SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 2023”

On 4 and 8 October the International MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival will take place at the RIO cinema in Ventspils.
The winner of the Latvian Youth Short Film Competition “1201RĪGA2023” will be screened before the festival programme.
MANHATTAN SHORT is a unique event where every spectator is a film critic. More than 100 000 cinephiles around the world unite for one week to watch and vote for one of the 10 best short films in the world. The audience’s vote is sent to MANHATTAN SHORT HQ and the winner will be announced on 9 October 2023 at a ceremony in New York. The results will be published on www.ManhattanShort.com and on the festival’s Latvian FB page https://www.facebook.com/ManhattanShortInLatvia
This year’s programme has a common theme of facing adversity, whether it is imposed by others or due to personal circumstances. The selection of 10 finalist short films includes stories that are dramatic, sometimes humorous, sometimes magical and always inspiring!
The films are screened in English and in the original language with Latvian and Russian subtitles. The festival is organised in Latvia by Moon Films.
The festival is supported by the US Embassy in Latvia and Riga City Council. The event is informatively supported by SWH and SWH+ radio.
