On March 21st, at the Jūrkalne Windmill House, as part of the event cycle “Jūrkalne 100,” a special action titled “100 Scarves – A Century in the Winds” will take place throughout the day. During this event, attendees will have the opportunity to view 100 Suitian headscarves, which have been preserved in dowries from ancient times and are still worn today.
A scarf is more than just an accessory; it is a symbol of identity, belonging, and respect. Over the centuries, Suitian women have used it as both an ornament and a practical garment element. During the event, an informative description will be created about the meaning of the scarf, its wearing traditions, and the various ways it has been used throughout the century.
We invite everyone to visit this special exhibition to explore the magical richness of the Suitian culture, feel the breath of history, and appreciate the significance of the scarves through the ages!
