Strengthening and popularising the traditions of bourdon singing and highlighting its wide diversity, the Bourdon Festival “Preserving Centuries” will bring together folk groups from Latvia and abroad – Georgia, Sardinia (Italy), North Macedonia and the Baltic States. The Festival will take place for three days from 5 to 7 July in the Suiti Cultural Space – UNESCO Intangible Heritage sites in Alsunga, Gudenieki and Jūrkalne. On the second day of the festival, July 6th, special emphasis will be placed on the transmission of Suiti cultural traditions and skills to future generations. The grand concert “I Weave a Golden Thread Along the Sea Shore” will gather participants at Jūrkalne’s Ugunspļava, vividly showcasing the diversity and uniqueness of cultural traditions in Europe and the world. The concert will conclude with a symbolic message by the sea, calling for the preservation of the unique values of the Suiti and other world cultures. At the end of the day, there will be a dance evening at Jūrkalne’s Ugunspļava, featuring the ethno band “Zeidi”. Entry for visitors is free of charge.
