From October 9-19, the International Symposium on Small Form Ceramics Navigation XIII will take place in the Crafts House of the Ventspils Museum. The participants of the ceramics symposium work in the Potter’s workshop of the Amatu house, the curator of the symposium is Jānis Kupčs, the symposium is supported by the state city of Ventspils, the State Cultural Capital Fund and the cultural program of the Kurzeme planning region. Ceramics Symposium Navigation is taking place for the thirteenth time, the symposium is attended by only professional artists and traditionally also a student recommended by the Ceramics Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts. This year, Keite Melle (LV), Agnese Sunepa (LV), Viktorija Maroti (HU) and Katarzyna Misciur (DN) are participating in the symposium. According to the rules of the symposium, the artists hand over one of the works of art created during the symposium to the Art Collection of the Ventspils Museum. Ventspils Museum has a unique collection of contemporary ceramics, which currently includes more than 70 artworks by artists from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, France and Poland.
