Concert Hall “Latvija” in the Small Hall in a concert – jam with Ventspils Big Band No. 4 “How good!” – it will be possible to hear the original compositions of the musician Andras Buiķs. The energetic and dynamic singer Aija Vītoliņa will perform at the concert alongside the author and the Ventspils Big Band (artistic director – Renārs Lācis).
Andris Buiķis is one of the most sought-after studio recording drummers in Latvia, who works in the field of jazz and popular music. In 2013, Andris graduated with distinction from the jazz percussion department of the Amsterdam Conservatory (Jazz Department Conservatorium van Amsterdam). Performed and played with several domestic musicians, as well as with international solo artists and groups. Winner of the “Grand Prix” of the international competition “Sony Jazz Stage 2008” in the nomination of the best jazz drummer. In 2020, he released his debut solo album “Green”. On the other hand, in 2023, the long-cherished project of Normunda Šnė, “Sinfonietta Rīga” and the jazz group “Lupa” was realized, in which the listeners were offered a melodious journey from the classics to the world of jazz and popular music in 12 original compositions by the percussionist Andras Buiķas.
