Full of wonders, colorful surprises, and bright adventures, Jānis Lūsēns and Normunds Beļskis’ musical fairy tale “Īkstīte” is coming to audiences young and old.
The play, like the well-known fairy tale by H. K. Andersen, tells the story of Thumbelina, a flower child who is in a hurry to explore the world and goes in search of her Happy Land, reminding us that even today, good can prevail in the world and true miracles can happen, as long as each of us has a generous and loving heart beating in our chests.
For the role of Thumbelina, the musical’s creative team chose two young, talented girls – Karlīne Anna Ērgli and Šarlote Patmalniece – from among many applicants in a casting competition.
