“Nijinsky is a contemporary ballet by choreographer Marco Goecke about ballet dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky. It reveals the most important moments of Nijinsky’s life on and off stage, showing the close connection between art and madness. For ten years, Vaclav Nijinsky (1890-1950) was the leading soloist and choreographer of the Ballets Russes led by the legendary Sergei Diaghilev. His virtuoso jumps and androgynous charisma charmed the audience, while his daring choreography provoked scandals. He spent the last thirty years of his life in mental health institutions.
