Henrik Ibsen’s drama Hedda Gabler tells the story of a woman raised by her father and a man brought up under the meticulous supervision of women. Their marriage is newly formed, but it is evident to everyone—except the young husband, scientist Jurgenu Tesmani—that it will not be a happy union. For Hedda, love holds the utmost importance in life, but her ideals clash with reality, leading to destructive feelings for another man.
