On February 8th at 12:00 PM, the Ventspils Seaside Open-Air Museum invites everyone to celebrate the traditional Latvian festival of Meteņi, marking the end of winter and the anticipation of spring.
The event includes:
- Horse rides provided by ZS “Demoras Staļļi”
- Masking, traditional “ķekatas” (Meteņi masks), and the “Meteņa dzīšana” (Meteņi chase) with the Vārve amateur theater “Vārava”
- Games and Meteņi traditions
Meteņi is an ancient Latvian celebration of spring, marking the approach of a new economic year, and it is a great opportunity to spend the winter happily, dress up and go play to ensure good luck and fertility for the coming year.
