The Ventspils Science Centre VIZIUM offers the opportunity to complement visits to interactive exhibition halls with creative workshops that will explore the theme of mystery and secrets in November. Meanwhile, the new science show “Transport Laboratory” will serve as a reminder about road traffic rules and safety.
In November, the workshops at the Ventspils Science Centre VIZIUM will take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 13:00. 13.00. A new workshop content is offered every weekend.
- 4 and 5 November, 13:00 13.00
“The Mystery of Optical Illusions”: Optical illusions are created by combining the worlds of art and science. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to test whether their minds can be easily deceived by various optical illusions, as well as to experiment and create them practically themselves.
- 11 and 12 November, 13:00 13.00
“The Secrets of the Inner Body World”: Through fascinating experiments, participants will have the opportunity to explore human anatomy, including the peculiarities and functions of different body parts and organs
- 18 and 19 November, 13:00 13.00
“Treasure – the Sand”: The workshop will seek to explore the sand. Sand is a loose sediment made up of individual mineral grains. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own kinetic sand, test whether sand can repel water, and conduct other experiments with sand.
- 25 and 26 November, 13:00 13.00
- “The Magic of Colours”: In this workshop, the science of colour will be explored, more specifically, what colours are, and why we perceive them as we do. Participants will conduct experiments with primary colours, create secondary colours, and observe their interactions.
From 11 to 19 November, in the foyer of VIZIUM every visitor will have the opportunity to participate in a free creative activity to commemorate the independence of Latvia entitled “Live Latvia”, which will involve the creation of various 3D objects such as buildings, trees, human figures, light elements, which together will create our Latvia.
Also, everyone is invited to attend science shows that take place from Tuesday to Sunday at 12:00 and 14:00:
- At 12:00, “The Art of Experiments”
Being a chemist is a profession very similar to that of a chef and an artist, where one must know how to combine ingredients and colours correctly to achieve the desired result. The science show illustrates the wonders created by various fascinating chemistry experiments, such as how chemicals and compounds can affect the colour of flames, how dry ice can change the colour of other substances and create magical bubbles, and more!
- At 14:00, “Transport Laboratory”. NEW!
About road traffic rules and road safety through science experiment demonstrations! Visitors to the science show will have the opportunity to learn and see what is needed for a vehicle to move forward, how it interacts with different road surfaces, and who was the first to take to the skies in a hot air balloon!
The creative workshops and science shows at the Science Centre VIZIUM in Ventspils can be visited independently of the exhibition hall.
