The exhibition will take you on an exploratory journey through the ages, introducing the importance of horses in the everyday life and celebrations of the Duchy of Courland-Semgalia. From work horses and cart horses to thoroughbred trotters in the time of Ernst Johann Biron – horses have always been an integral part of the court and the duchy.
The exhibition will allow you to learn: what the Duke’s stables were like and how many employees worked there; what breeds of horses the Duke owned and how they were bred; what role horses played in court ceremonies and entertainment.
