Photo author Pārventas library

Tuesday, July  4, at 7 p.m. At 18:00, the parventa library, Tārgales street 4, will host the opening of the exhibition of photographs by Daiņa   Rozentāls “Ask sailors about the sea”.

At the opening of the Month of the Sea Festival, the Pārventa Library will have the opportunity to meet with photographer and former sailor Dainis  Rozentāls at the opening event of his anniversary exhibition.

For the photo exhibition, a simple, short, but very concise Japanese proverb was chosen: “Ask sailors about the sea!”. For the exotic and distant land of Japan, which is embraced on all sides by the ocean, this supposedly simple proverb is an integral value, because who else, if not the Japanese from ancient times, has reason to say so, D.Rozental emphasizes. Latvia, too, has a sea given by fate: a treasure that not everyone has. In July, during the annual celebration of sailors and fishermen, when the mighty ruler of the sea, Neptune, climbs the shore, inviting him to celebrate the Sea Festival, in his anniversary year Dainis Rozentāls decided to share his life moments that have accumulated in a thick layer in the photoarchive. The exhibition in Pārventa Library will be on view from July  4 to August  3.
