1908. In 1908, the legendary composer of the symphonic piece “Melanholiskais valsis” (The Melancholic Waltz), Emīls Dārziņš, was 33 years old. He and the conductor, vocal tutor Pāvuls Jurjāns, were good colleagues. Both of them dreamed of establishing Latvian opera. Emīls was working on the opera “Rožainās dienas” (Rosy Days). Unexpectedly, the two like-minded individuals became bitter rivals, and Emīls was publicly accused of musical theft. What happened? What was behind this conflict?
The performance in Ventspils is organized by SIA “Kurzemes Philharmonija”, financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the municipality of Ventspils.
