On September 13th at 7:00 PM, a special Poetry Day event will take place at the Piltene Cultural Center, where literature and music will merge into a harmonious unity. During the evening, there will be a conversation with the renowned Latvian writer and art historian Gundega Repše, moderated by Inga Ieviņa. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to listen to the author’s reflections on her latest work, Atlantas, but also enjoy poetry readings and a musical performance.

Gundega Repše is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Latvian literature. Her works are characterized by intellectual depth. Repše is also an art historian whose broad perspective and understanding of art add an extra dimension to her literary works. Her latest work, Atlantas, is a synthesis of prose and poetry in which the author explores the premises of human existence and the strength of women.

The event will conclude with a special musical program. The vocal cycle “Mēness meitiņa” (“Moon Maiden”) will be performed by tenor Juris Jope and pianist Endijs Renemanis This cycle combines Latvian poetry and music, creating a unique atmosphere and offering the audience the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional interpretation of art.

Throughout the evening, visitors will also have the chance to view an exhibition dedicated to Poetry Day, curated by the Piltene Library.
