Rick Feds
Ventspils Big Band

The concert featuring Rick Feds and the Ventspils Big Band promises to be an outstanding musical event, merging the brightest elements of two distinct worlds – jazz and electronic music.

Rick Feds (real name Rihards Fedotovs) is one of the most recognizable Latvian electronic music producers on the global stage. Known for his unique style and diverse musical talent, his music combines various genres, from jazz and blues to electronic music and experimental sound effects. He has been influenced by artists like Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, and Aphex Twin, which is reflected in his original compositions and improvisations. He has gained special recognition for his unique skill in “finger-drumming,” although he emphasizes that the term doesn’t fully capture his ability: “It’s more than that, there are other notes, sounds, practically anything.”

Rick Feds grew up in a musical environment and began playing various instruments in early childhood, including piano, guitar, and drums. He studied music theory and composition, where he developed his distinctive style. His concerts offer a special audiovisual experience, with video projections accompanying the music.

He has released several albums that have been highly praised by both critics and audiences. Additionally, Rick Feds actively collaborates with other musicians and artists, participating in various projects, including performing with the legendary band Jumprava.

On November 30, the concert will feature original compositions arranged for the big band ensemble. Renārs Lācis, the leader of the Ventspils Big Band, has previously performed with Rick Feds when they were both part of the jazz quintet Silvesteri Orkesteri. He shares: “With Rihards, we’ve experienced special music creation moments in the past, so it’s a great pleasure to share the stage again and offer the audience a unique musical experience.”

The concert is organized by SIA Kurzemes Filharmonija, with financial support from the Ventspils Municipality and the State Culture Capital Foundation.
