On Saturday, March 15, at 11:00 AM, the traditional and beloved Snowdrop Planting Community Event will take place in Jūrmala Park for many Ventspils residents and city guests.

We invite both young and old planting enthusiasts to Jūrmala Park, where everyone can help enhance the green area near the central playground with beautiful heralds of spring – snowdrops. You are welcome to bring your own plants, or you can receive them on-site. Together, we will plant around 5,000 snowdrop seedlings.

Work gloves will be available on-site. However, for a more comfortable planting experience, we kindly ask you to bring your own gardening tools.

After the hard work is done, we will enjoy warm tea and traditional pastries while appreciating our collective efforts.

We remind you that for more than ten years, various locations in the city have been enriched with snowdrops. They have been planted in Reņķa Garden, Dzirnavu Square, and most abundantly in Jūrmala Park. We especially want to remember… On April 8, 2017, in honor of Latvia’s 100th anniversary, Ventspils hosted the world’s largest snowdrop planting event in Sarkanmuiža Meadow. A new Guinness World Record was set for “The most people simultaneously planting bulb flowers in the shortest time.” From the snowdrop seedlings, a beautiful design was created a special flower bed in the symbolism of Latvia’s centenary. A total of 1,293 people participated in setting the record.

The first snowdrops blooming in the sunshine signal the arrival of spring. Come to Jūrmala Park to soak up positive emotions and enjoy a pleasant time outdoors. Let’s make Jūrmala Park even more vibrant together!
