The youth dance ensemble “Strautuguns” invites you to the concert “There Will Be a Wedding!” on April 5th at 6:00 PM at the “Jūras vārti” Theatre House. The concert will explore three stages of a relationship through Latvian folk dances – meeting, wedding celebrations, and life after the wedding.
Folk dance choreographies often depict both everyday events and festive celebrations. Many dances have been created in honor of the most heartfelt part of our lives – love. First shy glances, courtship, the first shared dance steps, falling in love, celebrating love with loved ones, starting a family, everyday life scenes – these are just some of the beautiful stories that will come to life on stage. We invite the audience to enjoy how these stories are told through dance!
The dance will feature ensembles from Ventspils, Riga, and Liepāja: the Ventspils Culture Center and Ventspils University College youth dance group “Strautuguns” (leader Agnese Sarma) and the middle-aged dance group “Strautuguns” (leader Zane Kalniņa), the middle-aged dance group “Kurzeme” (leader Indra Zarāne), the dance ensemble “Daiļrade” (leader Iveta Pētersone – Lazdāne), the dance ensemble “Pērle” (leader Raimonds Dzintars), the folk dance ensemble “Gatve” (leader Gunta Raipala), the folk dance ensemble “Dardedze” (leader Ilze Kronberga), the dance ensemble “Banga” (leader Kristīne Kārkliņa), and the youth dance group “Spararats” (leader Kristīne Kārkliņa).
The entrance fee is 5.00 euros. Tickets can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices and online. The concert is financially supported by the Ventspils Freeport Authority as part of the “Brīvosta in Dance Rhythms” project.
