On 26 February at 16:00, the Theatre House “Jūras vārti” will host a grand concert of Ventspils and Ventspils Region dance groups “Towards the Dance Festival” in preparation for the XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival.
The most beautiful dance patterns will be performed by the Ventspils Culture Centre’s middle generation and youth dance ensemble “Liedags”, the middle generation dance group “Kurzeme”, the senior dance group “SenKurzeme”, the youth and middle generation dance groups “Strautuguns”, Tārgale Parish middle generation dance group “Tārgale”, Vārve Parish middle generation dance group “Vāruve”, Usma folk house middle generation dance group “Usma” and Ance Culture House middle generation dance group “Ance”.
Ramona Irbe, the head of the Ventspils Dance District, shares her thoughts while waiting for the big summer event: “The final preparations for this summer’s Dance Festival have begun. The last time was difficult, not as usual. The work of the dancers and leaders was full of challenges because of the pandemic. And so it seems a little mysterious that the title of the grand dance performance is “Mūžīgais dzinējs” (Eternal Engine). It is all of us who love dance, respect Latvian folk traditions and long to be together. On 2 April, we will hold a showcase of Ventspils Dance District dance groups, where we will obtain tickets to the Daugava Stadium and the dance concert “Balts” (White). Before the show, we will dance together on 26 February to see what we have learnt, to find out what still needs to be done and, of course, to enjoy being together and the applause of the audience”.
