Maslenitsa to take place at the Ventspils Seaside Open Air Museum (2 Riņķa Street) on 26 February 12:00-15:00 .
Traditionally, the Ventspils Association of National Cultural Societies organises a farewell to winter and cold, a goodbye to evil and, on Sunday, the final day of Maslenitsa and the culmination of the celebration, relatives and friends ask each other for forgiveness for all the bad things that may have happened this year. The departed are remembered, a sauna is visited, and finally the Maslenitsa doll is burnt. Also at the Ventspils Seaside Open Air Museum, from 12 noon to 3 pm, there will be games, sports and folk activities, horse rides, a lively fair and the burning of the Maslenitsa effigy at 3 pm.
The Ukrainian song ensemble “Mrija”, the Belarusian ensemble “Zhuravinka”, soloists from the vocal studio “Šokolāde”, the Ventspils Russian folklore group “Yuriev Denj” and the J. Smirnova collective will take part in the Maslenitsa.
Maslenitsa is supported by the Ventspils State City Council, Ventspils Creative House, Ventspils Culture Centre, newspaper Ventas Balss and Kurzeme TV.
The museum will be open from 11.00 to 16.00, entrance with museum tickets.
