As usual in the Latvian Beach Volleyball Championship, for the first time in the season the beach sands will be set in motion from 2 to 4 June in Ventspils, at the beach volleyball stadium on the Blue Flag Beach. Almost all of Latvia’s strongest duos will be among the participants.
41 pairs are entered in the men’s competition and 29 in the women’s. The men’s line-up will include all the strongest players – Mārtiņš Pļaviņš with Mihails Samoilovs, Aleksandrs Samoilovs with Jānis Šmēdiņš, Edgars Točs with Olivers Bulgačs and Ardis Daniels Bedrītis with Artūrs Rinkevičs. Točs’s replacement from last season, Kristiāns Fokerots, will play with coach Atvars Vildis.
The women’s duos will feature Līva Ēbere and Deniela Konstantinova, Varvara Brailko and Anete Namiķe, Marta Ozoliņa and Luīze Anna Skrastiņa, as well as several indoor volleyball duos. Tīna Laura Graudiņa/Anastasija Samoilova will skip this event and will compete in the Beach Pro Tour – Elite 16 in Ostrava, Czech Republic this week. 11 male and female duos from Lithuania, Finland and Estonia are also expected to visit.
The competition will start with the qualification tournament on Friday from 14:00, continue with group matches and the first knockout round on Saturday morning, and on Sunday the day will start with the ¼ finals and conclude with the men’s and women’s winners.
This season, the DEPO Open 2023 Latvian Beach Volleyball Championship features three rounds and a final. All events are held outside Riga, continuing to cover the regions of Latvia, and all events feature both men and women. As in previous seasons, all events, except the finals, invite players from other countries as guests. In addition, at the end of July Liepāja will host the final round of the Baltic Masters as part of the Latvian Championship.
For the second year, the competition will be held hand in hand with DEPO, the local home, garden, renovation and building supply chain, under the motto “Viss, lai darītu!” (Everything to get doing!). !). The Championship is supported by AS “Būvuzņēmums Restaurators”, “Tocha”, “Eco Baltia Vide”, “Laskana”, “Gemoss”, “Venden”, Latvijas Televīzija, “Klubs”, “Radio SWH” and the municipalities of Ventspils, Saulkrasti, Liepāja and Jūrmala, as well as other cooperation partners.
Entrance to all DEPO Open 2023 games is FREE. Fans are therefore invited to enjoy the high-class beach volleyball action, take part in competitions, enjoy good music and a great atmosphere. The most exciting matches on Sunday will also be broadcast on TV channels “Best4Sport” and LTV7.
