On 14 October, the 13th Sea Fishing from the Shore Festival and the 12th Latvian Sea Fishing Championship in the People’s Class will start at 7.00 in Jūrkalne. The aim of the event is to promote sea angling, exchange experiences and determine the best Latvian sportsmen and teams in this fishing sport discipline.
Around 90 teams with two participants each will take part. The team with the heaviest catch will be awarded the highest place in the Latvian Championship, and the total weight of the catch of each team will be evaluated. First, second and third place teams will receive commemorative prizes and the winning team will receive a travelling trophy. Surprise prizes will also be awarded. Egīls Draudiņš will be the chief referee.
On the day of the event, there will be an opportunity to shop in the market and take part in competitions with the sea border guards Hector and Vector from Visby at the Windmill House from 15.00. At 16.00 there will be a concert party with performances by Jānis Narkevics junior, Jānis Narkevics senior and Arvis Sanders, and at 19.00 the winners and participants will be awarded at the Windmill House.
