On 11 May at 11:00 in Adventure Park, the Ventspils summer tourism and cycling season will open with a bike ride. The motto of this year’s cycling event is “Olympic Cycling Sparks”, chosen in connection with the Summer Olympic Games to be held in Paris this year.
Participants are invited to think about the visual design by decorating their bikes and choosing Olympic-themed clothing in the colors of the five Olympic rings. The most interesting designs will receive surprise prizes! The biggest teams will receive a separate prize – a certificate of appreciation.
The cycling race will take place on two tracks – the Long Track (8.6 km) and the Small Track for children (2.1 km). Children will be the first on the track, gather at the starting point from 10:00 – 10:10, start at 10:15. For the Long Track, gather at the starting point from 10:30 – 10:55, start at 11:00. 11:00.
At the finish area, all participants will receive not only a certificate and a sticker, but also a special voucher to enter a lottery with the main prize being a bicycle. After the finish, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a power porridge.
The children’s pop group “Jūras akmentiņi” with Reinis and Gita Reimanis will play music at the event. For the youngest participants of the bike ride, Bitīte and Mārīte will be at the Adventure Park.
Traffic restrictions!
From 10:00 to 12:00 there may be traffic restrictions and street closures on the route, as well as public transport restrictions in the city, so bus delays are possible.
Safety comes first!
Please keep in mind that all participants are required to wear a helmet to prevent severe injuries during the ride. No cyclist is immune to making accidental mistakes. Between a scratched and cracked helmet and a head injury, choose the former one! In addition, the law requires all children under the age 12 to wear a helmet.
